Thursday’s Special : Here and There

A tricky challenge from Paula this week, “here and there”. How can we be here and there at the same time and what photo can I use to show this.

Well I’ve slept on it, I hope you don’t mind Paula, but I have twisted it a bit…

So here is my interpretation…

How to hold boomerang

A few years ago Paul Clancy would come down to Burleigh Beach to demonstrate and sell boomerangs he had made. Jack bought one and Paul gave him some lessons. Jack made this shaky video of Paul in action. Believe me it is a very difficult art to throw one correctly, but more importantly, to have it come back and then catch it.

We took the boomerangs to the grandchildren and they had some fun, until it sailed into the top of a very high tree and as far as I know it is still there…

 

Travel Theme : The Ocean in Motion

I live near the ocean and I am always captivated by its constant motion and changing moods. I never tire of photographing the ebb and flow of the tides, trying to capture the fury when a storm whips the white horses to a frenzy sending the spume spraying through the air like the mane of a wild stallion. Or the calm, gentle drifting of the waves on a summer’s day when the ocean is inviting us in to swim in the cool water.

Over the years I have collected many photos of the ocean in its many moods. In response to Ailsa’s theme of motion here are a few of them.

The ocean in summer

 

But the ocean can change its mood and then you must just watch in awe as the wind whips the waves into a frenzy, the ocean roars and swells in a huge destructive force that carries all before it.

Gradually the storm subsides

Waves beating into the rocks, I try to catch that beautiful translucent green that shines through the wave.

 

Surfing heaven, the calm after the storm.
