Weekly photo challenge : Growth

Nature unfurling

This photo of the palm frond has so many memories for me.

It definitely says growth, I am alive, I am unfurling, I am becoming a symbol of New Zealand…

The Silver Fern is New Zealand’s symbol that all Kiwis wear with pride. This fern is not the silver fern, but they have the same beautiful way of opening.

It also signifies for me my time spent in New Zealand and having two beautiful children and watching them grow to adult-hood.

Lastly it reminds me of where I was when I took this photo. This particular fern was growing outside the bedroom window of the Global Village Backpackers in Greymouth in the South Island of New Zealand. We spent 8 weeks travelling in New Zealand during February, March and April 2012. We stayed in many places and we both voted this to be one of the best we stayed in. http://pommepal.wordpress.com/2012/04/20/global-village-back-packers I wrote about our travels around New Zealand on my Gypsy Life blog and the link will take you to the post about Greymouth and Global Village.

Thank you for visiting this site.

  1. That palm frond looks like a little alien. A cute alien 🙂
