The year is 1991 and we are in America doing our discovery tour of this great land.
We arrived in Philadelphia in early October and the city was in the throes of celebrating Christopher Columbus’ discovery of America. It was the 499th anniversary. We joined a huge, happy and excited throng to watch the big parade. I have never seen such a parade. It took over an hour for all the floats, bands, performers, cultural groups, vintage cars, young children, acrobats, clowns, to name just a few, to pass. The pride and joy of being American could be felt. Even now, 22 years later, I can still remember the joyous atmosphere the cheering and flag waving.
Back then digital cameras were still to be discovered so these were taken on film and I have scanned them into the computer.
