This beautiful building is a memory of one mans dream.
Jose Paronella came to Australia and had this dream to build a castle for himself and his family. The story of Paronella Park is an amazing story of what one man can achieve with guts and determination He bought this 13 acres in 1929. It was a life times work and is in the tropical rainforest area of Queensland. Fire, flood and cyclones destroyed this dream in the late 1900’s but it is now partially restored and the walks through the rainforest take you to lakes and a waterfall that was the first turbo generated electricity scheme in Australia. They have a caravan park on the property and for $14 you can stay on a powered site over night and then take the walk through the rainforest in the dark with a torch to shine your way. As you stand in front of the remains of the castle the spot-lights are turned on and the scene becomes a magical wonderland.

Like Ben at the “ Daily Post weekly photo challenge” I do not take many night photos. The ones I do take are usually fuzzy, out of focus disasters.
So when this challenge dropped in I knew immediately what photo to use. Then I just had to find it…
How timely – friends and I were just discussing this last week! Next time I’m up in QLD I will have to visit there.
Thanks for sharing your photo 🙂
You mustn’t miss it, it is an amazing place to explore.
What a great story and place.. A shame I’m so far away (USA).
If you ever get over here I would recommend visiting this place, it is special

Seeing it at night time was certainly special when they suddenly turned all the spot lights on.
Ah – it’s a total dream! If I ever go to your country, I will try to visit this.
It is classed as the No1 tourist attraction in a vote by the people out of 150 attractions.
I absolutely love Paronella Park! It’s just beautiful 😀
Every time we go up and down the East coast we call in. It is amazing what Jose achieved. I think he chose the right wife to help him…
