I’m sure this building needs no introduction. From every viewpoint its contours swoop and flow like waves on the ocean.
It dwarfs the people gazing at its grandeur.
But it is not the only curvaceous icon on Sydney’s waterfront.
The old “Coat hanger” is peering over her shoulder.
If you look very closely you will see tiny ant-like dots, brave souls,ย nearly at the top as they climb this Sydney monument.

I wonder how many other Australian bloggers have chosen to showcase our well known buildings in this weeks photo challenge as Cheri asks us toย “find inspiration in the curves around you.”
How amazing, Pauline…a young plumber was showing me photographs of when he and his family climbed that very bridge only a few days ago!
What a coincidence…
Indeed
๐
I love the Sydney Opera House! Beautiful set of images for the challenge, Pauline. ๐
Thanks Cathy. Have you ever been to Sydney?
No, sadly I never have. But who cannot love that iconic building? Maybe someday!!
Have you got any travel plans at the moment Cathy?
Yes, Pauline, we’re going to Iceland August 13-25, doing the Ring Road and Reykjavik. I can’t wait. ๐
Hi P – great choice for curves and even tho I have seen this Sydney icon for a while – never saw this view – and they are brave souls! Wow
It is photogenic from every angle. To climb the bridge you have to book a year in advance, it is a very popular thing to do in Sydney
Oh – well that is good to know and wow – a year! That is some list!
Don’t think I could do it now-a-days, it is quite a climb, but what a view from up there. Only thing is they do not let you take a camera or phone with you…
What !’? No camera or phone? What about a go pro or those small “button” cameras ?
Hmmmm
I’m not sure about go-pros, I think they may be OK as they are fixed to your head
yeah – maybe – but who knows – and thx
One of the most recognisable buildings on the planet!
I didn’t think I had to name it
A very clever and spot-on post for curves challenge, Pauline! ๐
They were the first things that came to mind for this theme.
Good memories – Sydney feels like my home town in a lot of ways. Lovely curves ๐
Soon Perth will start to feel that way too.
IF I manage to make it there before they leave! I need to get move on!
Are they planning a move?
My son is always planning PP. Perth was just a stepping stone in his career so I don’t see them there for long. Maybe a couple of years.
Will he ever come back to UK?
I shouldn’t think so. He has ideas of spending time in the UAE (he works for Etihad Airways) and then most likely moving to New Zealand which is where his partner is from. The UK has never been his country, he always thinks of himself as South African.
More places for you to visit Jude. Sounds like he was born with travellers genes
I guess you can blame me for that!
๐
Perfect choice, Pauline and nice perspective of the Opera House.
I don’t think you could get a bad shot of this building.
Of COURSE you had to choose this one Pauline! Excellent example of superb curves.
First thing I thought of…
A natural choice!
I agree
These photos are absolutely breath-taking; they deserve a ‘like’ and your blog deserves a ‘follow’! ๐
Have an amazing day!
Cheers,
Yousuf
Thank you Yousuf for dropping by and leaving me an encouraging comment. I hope you enjoy your look around my world
I certainly will. ๐
