Be careful walking under the she oak trees when they are full of nuts. They are also full of Galahs tucking in and dropping the shells on unsuspecting passers-by who do not look up…

Notice how spiky those nuts are?

Galahs are very cheeky, I think he is grinning, he has just scored a bull’s-eye on a tourist!!!

Of course one of the most beautiful sights to be seen when you look up is the ever-changing sky.

Keep looking up! I learn from the past, dream about the future and look up.

There’s nothing like a beautiful sunset to end a healthy day.

Curvaceous Icon : Weekly Photo Challenge

I’m sure this building needs no introduction. From every viewpoint its contours swoop and flow like waves on the ocean.

It dwarfs the people gazing at its grandeur.

But it is not the only curvaceous icon on Sydney’s waterfront.

The old “Coat hanger” is peering over her shoulder.

If you look very closely you will see tiny ant-like dots, brave souls, nearly at the top as they climb this Sydney monument.

This is winter in Hobart, Tasmania. It was cold and wet but at the Salamanca Markets these 3 buskers played jolly Irish jingles. The sound in complete contrast to what their body language was saying.

I think they were hoping someone could “spare a dime” as the Americans would say, or make a donation, or show some appreciation.

 The violin case lay hopefully open. Then this Mum and child walked by…

Australia is a huge continent of contrasts, it is also an island.

The ocean beats relentlessly against the shore.

The rivers flow through the land.

This is deceptively calm, sometimes it can be a raging torrent.

At other times drought grips the land.

The sad effect of the drought

Australia is a land of extremes. From the mountain tops.

To the tropical rainforest…

From the fertile red clay of the cane fields…

To the sand of the deserts…

This is the place I love and call home.

I’ve roamed around this beautiful land and it is indeed “the lucky country”.

But there is no place quite as comforting as watching the sun set from your own back deck…

This is my daughter and I really admire how she sets goals and lives her life to the full. These photos were taken many years ago and her love of horses was her passion at that time. This is the cutting competitions in New Zealand.

Life has moved on and with a business and living in the city she no longer can immerse herself in horses. 3 days ago she flew to Kathmandu to face her next challenge, the trek to Everest base camp. After all the dramas in that area over the past few years my heart trembles for her till she returns.
